When we enter a marriage, we don't need to look at pictures, hear beautiful music, and otherwise entertain our flesh and imagination. Yet we do these things anyways, and they are awesome!

What does that have to do with anything??

We don't "need" pictures in a relationship, but using them can definitely improve things and help us set our mind on those portrayed in the images.

While you're at it, have them take out any musical instruments, pews, hymnals, pulpits, electronic devices (microphones, etc). Tell your fellow members to shed and disposes of all jewelry, including wedding rings.Either that, or come off your high, hypocritical horse.

Just as scripture tells you.

Where do you see Jesus and the Apostles teaching that icons help us to become closer to Christ?? Nowhere.. They are material things of the flesh, which those who don't have new spiritual life in Christ must use to IMAGINE Christ. We don't have to imagine him - we have our entire spiritual life IN him.The Catholic church, on the other hand, must use material things of all kinds - icons, statues, other art, music, things that bedazzle the flesh to 'inspire' the darkened mind to think ABOUT Christ. We are already in intimate relationship with him 24/7 every second. Neither do we have to eat material wafers pretending they are him, to get him IN us. He is ALREADY in us. You re like EVE when she was beguiled by satan and saw his lies and the 'apple' as appealing to the EYES and fleshly wisdom and pride (which the RCC is also brimming with).

I do not think it could be any clearer than this. The Church is telling Catholics "Read your Bibles
As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.
But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.
