In my search for God in the 70s, I went to a Hindu temple, where they fed the statues milk & honey. That was kind of scary to me, but they do believe that their 'deities' contain their 'gods.' I wonder what happens when one gets knocked over.... BTW Happy Independence Day!!

But we are not ashamed to have images to help keep us always focused on the higher gifts. But then again, to be sure, they are not God. If I were denied any image, such as was done during the Reformation, I would still manage to maintain my faith without them. To acknowledge the image is to acknowledge the hands that made the image, bowing down in humble adoration/veneration to them, only confirms the violation according to the second commandment.

Kneeling before something does not mean you are praying to or worshipping it. People used to kneel before kings and queens. Were they worshipping the king and
queen? I kneel before my bed when I say my morning and evening prayers. Am I worshipping my bed?
