Lybs, It is the Democrats, not the Republicans, who are trying to stop Obama's bill retaining the current tax rates for the middle class and the wealthier people. In other words, the Republicans are trying to do exactly what you said, and the Democrats are trying to stop it.

High taxes are bad for the economy.  Here in Washington State the people voted down a proposed state income tax on the wealthy, and I'm glad we did, because right now a lot of businesses and wealthy people move to Washington state from Oregon because of the better business climate.

Veej, no its the Republicans as to why the deal was done in the first place. They threatened to hold everything hostage and didn't voted down health care for 9/11 responders unless the very wealthy get their tax cuts.  These tax cuts will have no impact whatsoever, one way or the other, on their lives Veej.  The Democrats are putting up a good protest against it and I'm glad they are, all the things Bernie Sanders said last night need to be said and heard. But in the end I think it will pass, because it will impact the lives of everyone else.
Jobs are not dependant on tax cuts for the wealthy Veej. If that were so, how could we be in the mess we are in?

President Obama: The people of the world can live together in peace. We know that is God's vision. Now, that must be our work here on Earth.
