Let's take a look at what Scripture says about the single key:

7And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; Rev. 3

Which was said, decades after Peter already gave up the ghost and supposedly passed "two" keys on to the "successor". The key of David is not the same as the keys of the Kingdom. One key--David's, now Christ's because He is the Heir of David. Two keys, those given to all who are to repent and believe the Gospel. The former is the Scepter by which Jesus Christ rules upon the throne of David. the other two are Conviction and Faith, given by the Holy Spirit and the Word, respectively.  Also take note of how only Jesus Christ wields the Key of David, as no man can open or close what He shuts and opens.  No man.
So where is the Scriptural connection between what the Lord said to St. Peter and the verse you quoted from Revelation?

There isn't any, Tony.  That's the point.  Two different sets of keys.  The keys given to Peter in that verse was not the Key of David.
So what keys were they and do they convey authority?

I already told you what those keys were:  the Conviction of the Holy Spirit, and Faith from the Word.  Yes, most certainly the Conviction of the Holy Spirit and Faith from the Word conveys authority.  Those who preach that Word--the Gospel by which one receives Faith, are bound by that same Word.  They may not loose anything but that which Heaven has first loosed, nor can they bind anything but that which Heaven has first bound.  For instance, your church's innovations have no such authority, for Heaven did not loose such things.  Whatever is loosed and bound is to be found in the Teaching given to the Apostles by Jesus Christ.  They passed on this very same Teaching, which did not have your church's innovations.  The Apostles had no authority to teach any doctrine they weren't first given by the Word--Jesus Christ.  They had no authority to deny any doctrines they were given by Jesus Christ.  Now where this same Teaching is, which is the Word given the Apostles, there is the Spirit of the Father, for where the Son (the Word) is, there is the Father also.  When the Teaching is preached unadulterated by innovations, the Spirit of the Father accompanies that Teaching, convicting those with hearing ears.  Where innovations the Apostles never taught are added, the Spirit of the Father is not present.  So, it is by the Conviction of the Holy Spirit and the Faith from the Word that are the keys given to those who are the chosen, for many are called, but few are chosen.  When they are given these two Keys, they use them by repenting and believing, for conviction enables one to repent, and Faith enables one to believe.  Thus using these two keys, they may enter the Kingdom of the I AM.
