Catholics quote them, Cheezit, as proof that the Church's understanding/interpretaion of Scripture is in line with the continuity of Teachers throughout Early Christianity, but you know that, don't you?

If, as you say, the "official documents" of the Catholic church are the Catechism and the Doctrine of Faith and "that's it that's all", then how can you quote *any* writing of an ECF as if they held any weight unless those writings can be found in the "official documents"?


If you ever read the Catechism of the Catholic Church, you'd know it is loaded with footnotes which source the Teachings of the Church Fathers.
