The Apostles spoke the words of Jesus Christ to others and their descendants, the Bishops. In John 20:30, and 21:25, John said, '...and there are MANY OTHER THINGS WHICH JESUS DID, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even THE WORLD ITSELF COULD NOT CONTAIN THE BOOKS THAT SHOULD BE WRITTEN'. This tells us that there are two areas of GOD'S Holy Word, the Holy Scripture and Tradition. Tradition and Holy Scripture taken together are known in Catholicism as 'The Deposit of Faith'.
Is that Tradition as an ordinance or law of "God", or a Tradition of " sinful men", seeing no man can serve two masters?
Since that verse you offered and removed the context leading up to it. In reallity is directly talking about what Jesus did by dispelling, debunking the oral tradition of men which Peter started, as a tradition not coming from what Christ said .It is warning to us that we cannot mix the traditions as doctrines of men, with the tradition of God according to His doctrines found alone as it written , which is after no man.Trying to make the scriptures say something they are not comes by men refusing to mix what they hear coming from God 's word with the traditions of men . They never mix as you espouse . One is of God, the other of sinful men. It is simply impossible to mix the one faith that alone comes from hearing God ,with the oral traditions of men (no faith). Remember Christ said to Peter, after Peter rebuked the Lord of glory with a tradition of men .He said the things of men offend Him ,who is not served by human hands to begin with.
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard "it".Heb 4:1
How would the Pope define "not being mixed with faith in them that heard it"?
