HARLINGEN - Catholic Charities is searching for a building to serve as a hub for services for illegal immigrants coming into the Rio Grande Valley.

Officials with the agency said the building is in Harlingen, but did not disclose the exact location.

Catholic Charities works with Border Patrol to provide services for illegal immigrants released from custody. The immigrants are released at the bus stations in Brownsville and McAllen.

"These individuals are tired. They've had a long journey and this is the first place where they are getting a chance to take a break. Some of the mothers get to take a nap, while Save the Children cares for the children. This is supposed to be like a little safe haven," said Brenda Riojas, with the Diocese of Brownsville.

Catholic Charities hopes to have the hub operational in a week.
