religious organizations, or faiths, as it were, can't take over federal, state or even local social programs. look at history. they can't and they won't. it might be a nice thing to think about, and noble idea, but it's not realistic. it's idealistic and impractical.

No one I know would advocate such a thing. What we are saying is that government cannot and does not do a very good job providing these services and it wastes millions of dollars along the way. Private charity does a much better job of delivering services to people in need. Not only that, they actually help to permanently change people's lives.

Quote:
a government that focuses solely on capitalism and defence, and ignores the needs of its truly needy people, will surely suffer.

No one is saying that government should not provide services for the needy. They should. What we are saying is that we oppose cradle to grave services when people can and should be able to provide for themselves. Government also robs individuals of the opportunity to give by forcing them to do it through taxation.

Remember, with every "need" you abdicate to government to provide for you, you give up some of your freedom to decide for yourself. Our freedoms don't some cheap and they are very hard to get back once they are lost.
I've seen diapers. And believe me, my mother is right. What's in the pooh-pooh is like the Bible. The truth is in there.
