WP, the Church is very wise when it comes to things of the Spirit because they have 2000+ years experience with Saints/sinners, angels/demons, Godly/ungodly visions, apparitions, locutions and everything under the sun. You must know how very careful they are now when it comes to judging/approving apparitions or things like that because the devil can be very deceiving. The Church isn't impressed with OBEs or anything else like that and are very leary of these things. Much, much investigation takes place before anything is ever approved and there can't be anything that goes against Scripture. Many great Saints of the Church have suffered through investigations, but they always stayed docile and humble with their superiors through it all and let the Lord validate their experiences. Many superiors could be downright jealous of such blessings and made life hard for them, but the Truth would always prevail. I think if we're seeking spiritual experiences just for the sake of the experiences, then we could easily be led astray and satan would be more than happy to oblige us. If we're simply seeking the Lord for the Lord Himself, as we're told to do in the Scriptures, then He knows our hearts.

There's all kinds of people out there today who are seeing apocalyptic visions and everything else under the sun that the Church does not approve. There's a guy, John Leary, I think out of NY who had many followers, but his Bishop laid down his decision that his visions were not of divine origin, but were of human origin. Here's the Bishop's decision which you should read for yourself.

God bless you

O my Jesus,
forgive us our sins,
save us from the fire of hell,
lead all souls to heaven,
especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy.
