During my first atheist period I liked to take fun adult education classes, always short and meant as much for socialization as for learning. There was one class on OBE's. I never signed up for that class, but I did order the book the class used. And I read about half of it.

That's all it took. It was obvious that people didn't actually experience out-of-body experiences, they just convinced themselves they did. I also saw it as dangerous. I sure didn't want to start imagining things, I wanted to stay solidly connected to reality.
