One can't believe in anything that contradicts Church teaching.

I can, if it was said by Jesus.
And almost everything He said contradicts Church teaching.

Reincarnation is obviously incompatible with what the Church teaches about the last things.

The Buddha, Gautama Siddharta, coined the term Reincarnation 500 years before Jesus.
Jesus believed on the name of Buddha, and in reincarnation,
but the translaters into English rather called it resurrection.

But you are correct, though,
the Church does have it's own conception of what the resurrection is,
incompatible with the reincarnation of Buddha, and with the resurrection of Jesus.

Reincarnation is not like the simple doctrines which men report.
Neither is the resurrection anything like men report.
Reincarnation is like resurrection, as reported by Jesus. image
The Tathagata, which is the Son of man, is the resurrection, and the life,
and any that believe on Him shall never die
`Paul

Jesus said unto her,
I am the resurrection, and the life:
he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die.
Believest thou this?
John 11:25-26

And this is the will of Him that sent Me,
that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him,
may have everlasting life:
and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:40
