What did HE mean by "it"? What was HE thinking when He said "it" is finished?

To me it seems obvious, He was thinking about demonstrating the work the Father sent Him to do and finish it, in regard to giving Spirit life, as it, which He did finished.

Joh 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

premise 2: Justification is part of His work of redemption.

Knowing the Spirit of Christ alone is the just and the justifier, justification is a direct result of the finished work, the grace which was a direct reward of that work, is not of ourselves lest any man boast they contributed to it. Justification is a indication, the work iwe are justified by is completly, perfectly finished.

To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Rom 3:26

I can agree that the physical suffering portion of His work for our redemption was completed to a significant degree, if not completely, on the cross at the point that He said that.

We have a difference in opinion regarding the question does the flesh profits anything or not. I believe it was not a physical work, but rather the spiritual sufferings of having the sins of the entire world laid on him that is salvafic. -

The physical sufferings, I believe, were the result of crimes committed by a Satan inspired mob. To make this suffering in any way payment for our sins would be to give Satan and his agencies a part in providing our salvation. It makes our salvation dependent on a crime, and thus to some degree (however slight) on the criminals who committed the crime.

The suffering that I would say would be understood, as the shedding of blood, a term that mean, the giving the of Spirit life,as the life of the flesh(Spirit life) is in the blood and is not of physical blood.

Hebrews speaks directly to this matter.

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;

For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Heb 9:22
