Hmm ... interesting. GOD does not ask for a Tithing of Time though, He asks for one tenth of your increase plus Offerings which are in addition to the Tithe.

The Tithe belongs to the Church for the training and needs of the Priesthood and for the Propagation of the Faith, and the Offerings goes to the poor and other worthwhile causes. That's how I understand it. Anyone, I don't have alot of money either, I'm just living hand to mouth myself, but I did read something interesting in Malachi 3:8-11

If you read it in the original Hebrew it's much more profound. It says ... Test Me please says Yahweh the Lord of Hosts, if I shall not open the crevices of Heaven and empty it all upon you ... and I shall cut-down the Devourer from before you ... The word "crevice" here means "all the deepest corners of Heaven" shall be opened and poured upon you.

In English, verse 11 is translated: I shall "rebuke" the Devourer for your sake. In Hebrew however, the word "rebuke" is rather inadequate It actually means to CUT-DOWN/ SLAY the Devourer. Wow! Now that's a much more powerful translation!

In the NIV translation, they've watered verse 11 down even further saying: "I will prevent pests from destroying your crops." What a pathetic translation! GOD wasn't just talking about "pests" here but about The Devourer (SATAN) who destroys everything in his path.

Anyway, in conclusion, I'm very disappointed in how much we have lost in the English translations.

Something to think about ...
